Transformative Relationships between the Child and the Educator

(as an introduction to Anthroposophic Curative  education)

Jan Goeschel, MA.,  the director of the Camphill School of Curative Education, having  4 year professional training program in curative education, Pennsylvania USA.

Becky Rutherford, MS.,   a core member of the faculty and a curative educator and a tutor for the seminar at the Camphill School of Curative Education, Beaver Run, Pennsylvania USA.

Nowadays, education for children with special needs is mostly concerned with categorizing abnormalities and symptomatic treatments.  It fails to take these three essential aspects into account: the child as “a whole human being”, which includes body, soul and spirit; the destiny chosen by the child in order to take its journey on earth differently, as an individual; and the child as an individual member of our society.

This lecture will introduce the audience to a new perspective on “Anthroposophic Curative Education” and explore ways to help the child as an “individual” without emphasizing only symptoms and abnormalities.

This curative pedagogy starts with contemplative observation and transformation of inner attitudes.  The meeting between the educator and the child with special needs asks us to open, accommodate and change in order to step forward with them on an educational path and help them to discover their true meaning and value as a human being.

Program includes: Eurythmy Performance; video about curative education from Camphill Special Need School, Beaverun; and the lecture (with Thai translation).

The Program will be on Wednesday, the 7^th April, 3.30-6.30 pm at Meeting room no. 101, Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University.
